Setting up Billing Rates

Update Bill Rates

You’ve made a change to your bill rates. Now you need to apply them. There are two ways to go about it and this article will show you both ways.

NOTE: This article assumes that you’ve set up bill rates

Update Bill Rates on the Invoice Overview Dashboard

The first way to update bill rates is on your Invoice Overview Dashboard. This approach will apply your updated billing rates to all unsubmitted and unbilled time entries.

Click Invoicing...Overview from your navigation bar.

Find the Update Rates button, which is located near the top-left corner of your screen.

A small window will pop up to ensure that you want to apply your current rates.

Click yes to apply your billing rates to all the time that’s in WIP (work in progress), as you can see in the tile below.

Update Bill Rates on a Drafted Invoice

The second way to update bill rates is through a drafted invoice. This approach will apply your updated bill rates to the time entries attached to a particular invoice for a specific project.

Let’s get to a drafted invoice and update the rates.

  1. Click Invoicing...Overview from your navigation bar.
  2. Click on the Drafts tab, located on the middle tile, and then click on the middle tile itself.

NOTE: The “Update Bill Rates” feature is available to all invoices. It can also be accessed through the “Finals” tab, the A/R Aging tile, and the billing history for a specific project.

  3. Click on a hyperlinked dollar amount in the Amount column.
  4. Click the Time tab
  5. Check the boxes next to the staffers whose bill rates you want to update.
  6. Click Update Rates.

A small window will pop up, asking you if you’re sure that you want to apply your current rates to time entries attached to the invoice. Click Yes to update the rates.
